TRAILER - The Last Supper Before the Storm

How our 2026 production trailer is coming to life

The date is set: 25 January 2026. That is when we will shoot this year’s play trailer. Fourteen actresses and actors, two directors and screenwriters, a director of photography, a music composer, a makeup artist, countless costumes and accessories, a set and a scenario, we are ready.

The idea for this trailer came one night after a long day wandering through the streets of Vienna on a busy Saturday. Sitting on a bed, the thought struck us like a eureka moment: a Last Supper... but with our own twist! Because tackling Shakespeare is already a challenge, but taming a shrew is a dangerous affair. And if you add the cherry on top - Petruchio, that furious lunatic - you know that this last dinner won’t be une mince affaire.

We had the image, then came the storytelling: how could we match the characters of the Shrew to a depiction of Jesus surrounded by a not-so-homogeneous entourage? It quickly became clear that Petruchio would be the prophet and Katerina his dark twin, and the rest was history.

Costumes were probably the hardest part. Even though the time periods are different, it was far more difficult to dress for Elizabethan and Victorian styles than to reproduce the colors and silhouettes of the famous painting. So we searched everywhere: we visited specialized shops, theatres and opera houses selling their costumes, and Vinted also became a dear friend.

Our amazing and slightly crazy makeup artist Martina was involved from the very early stages of production. She immediately understood what we wanted for both the play and the trailer, and proposed so many wigs, accessories and ideas that we knew we were in good hands and that the trailer would be a lot of fun.

For the set and the props, we also went everywhere. A special shout-out to Marouane and his wonderfully warm and understanding friends at A Warehouse, where we were able not only to buy what we needed but also to rent countless accessories and, most importantly, to find the longest table possible.

The trailer will be shot on 25 January 2026 (Inch’Allah), with a general rehearsal on 24 January. We are still missing a few items, accessories and costume pieces, but mostly, we think we are ready.

STAY TUNED!
