About the Play
In Padua, marriage is not a matter of the heart, but of strategy. Bianca’s grow impatient, but her father is firm: no one will marry her until her elder sister, Katherina - the fierce and much-feared “shrew” - finds a husband. Enter Petruchio, bold and provocative determined to take on the challenge. But in Padua, everyone is playing a part, masks come off, and women may yet begin to write their own rules.
In a world where everything seems decided in advance, who is really in control?
Who tames whom?
About the Author
Shakespeare (1564-1616) is widely regarded as one of the greatest playwrights in world literature. An actor and writer in London’s theatre world, he was a leading member of the King’s Men, one of the most prominent acting companies of his time. His work spans tragedies, comedies, and histories, exploring power, identity, love, conflict, and human contradiction with unmatched linguistic inventiveness and dramatic insight.
The Taming of the Shrew, written in the early 1590s, remains one of Shakespeare’s most debated comedies. Its sharp humour, troubling gender dynamics, and theatrical energy make it especially open to reinterpretation. The play stages questions of gender, power, and performance so vividly that it continues to challenge audiences and inspire new readings. More than four centuries later, Shakespeare’s work still invites us to question, laugh, argue, and see familiar truths in unexpected ways.
For a production like ours, Shakespeare is not a monument to be admired from a distance, but a living text to be interrogated, challenged, and reinvented. His plays continue to be performed, translated, and reimagined across the world because they speak so vividly to the structures, desires, and contradictions that still shape our lives today.

About the Production
Our aim is clear: to bring Shakespeare back to life in its original spirit, not as dry literature to be studied, but as living theatre made for an audience. A space of rhythm, laughter, cries, colour, bold characters, and unapologetic drama. We want to challenge the idea that classics are distant or outdated. Our production restores the raw vitality of Elizabethan theatre while engaging with our present reality; our struggles, relationships, and contradictions.
This Shrew is bold, noisy, playful, and daring: a collision of past and present. We are not here to tame Shakespeare, but to unleash him. With surtitles in modern English, our international ensemble invites everyone - from lifelong theatre lovers to first-time audiences - to rediscover the classics as they were meant to be; bold, collective, and for the people!
